Alison Calvo

Founder & Instructor, The Miami Play Club

Alison began working with children as a volunteer with Round Robin Playgroup, Inc., helping lead a parent-and-child playgroup. She now teaches Reggio Emilia–inspired toddler art classes in Edgewater, built around open-ended materials, play, and exploration. With a degree in psychology and graduate studies underway in speech-language pathology, she pays close attention to how each child communicates and engages. As a teacher and a mother, she creates spaces where children follow their curiosity and caregivers join in alongside them.

Seasonal art stations

Thoughtfully prepared stations in autumn colors invite children to try leaf printing, woodland collage, and more, moving between them at their own pace.

A shared forest mural

Every family adds to one big forest mural together, so the morning ends with something the whole room made.

Room to follow their curiosity

There is no “right” result. Children make their own choices and experiment freely, with grown-ups creating right alongside them.

Coffee and connection

Caregivers enjoy a cup of coffee and time with other local families while the little ones explore.

A few things to know

Logistics

  • Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.
  • Suggested for ages 2 to 5; older children are welcome. Caregivers participate alongside their children and supervise them throughout.
  • Family tickets: $55 for one child, or $80 for two children from the same household. Each ticket includes up to two caregivers.
  • Limited to 10 participating children.
  • All art materials, coffee, refreshments, fruit, and organic children’s snacks are included. Please dress both yourself and your child in clothing that can get messy.
